What scares the hell out of Baby Boomer’s

Yeah…got your attention…do you really know “What scares the hell out of Baby Boomer’s”, well one thing I can all but guarantee you is it’s NOT…DEATH.  I recently read an article by Sarah Gilbert which was actually quite interesting and from our perspective very close to home.  In her article she references a survey by the Allianz Life Insurance Company where in a poll 61% of older Americans between the ages of 44 and 75 said that running out of money was their biggest fear.  Wow how eye opening is that?  Not sure about Linda but for me I would agree with that statement…I worry more about not having enough money to retire, or not enough money to last us through retirement.  Don’t get me wrong it’s not like we don’t have plenty, but you just never know so the thought is always in the back of one’s mind.  Plus, when one says they have plenty I’m reminded of as a child when the food was not overly abundant growing up and you wanted more you were reminded by your parents you were fine you had plenty…just kidding but as you can see plenty is all relevant.

With today economy and a few banking crises under our belts, and that is putting it lightly, as baby boomers we become almost completely focused on the monetary aspect of retirement, which in our case is the question “Do I have enough to retire?”, and what really is enough.  We all know and it’s really not big secret the U.S. won’t have enough to fund Social Security in the next several decades so we might as well, if you’re smart, not count on that money coming in, and even if it did it won’t be enough to live on, unless your living in a cardboard box.  So many people of our age group have experienced some kind of a dwindling portfolio since the economic crisis began and many of us have already been forced to cut back.

What are we going to do about it?  Visualize…don’t think so…pray…maybe that will work for some.  How about we do what we have always done…how about we get up, dust off our asses and get to work doing something that will ensure our retirement.  What you ask…we how about starting an online business…one you can work from home…or anywhere else for that matter.  Is it easy…no it not…if it was everyone would be extremely good at it…but it’s doable…and what even more important is we as a generation are extremely good at hard work.  One thing I can tell you is if you work hard, but more importantly work smart for the next 2-3 years your fears of retirement will dwindle away.  There are more than 70 some million baby boomers world wide and all we need to do to be tremendously successful is support one another.  How can we reach boomers world wide…come on now think about it.  The INTERNET…did you get that…let me repeat that for you INTERNET and notice how I put it in bigger letters so all of us can read it, cause I know sometimes it’s hard to read the print.  For you younger people out there the simple answer is yes your reading gets a bit harder as you get older, but it not the first thing to go now is it Baby Boomers.

Many may will hear me, feel me, and understand me, but will still have questions of how and that my friends will be answered in yet another post…and it can be done with a step-by-step process which works.  We just wanted to give you some relief and understanding that you’re not alone in your thoughts of “What scares the hell out of Baby Boomer’s“, but if you interested in finding out how you can relieve your fears…please stay in touch…you will not be disappointed.  Please leave a comment helping us to understand your position.

Thanks so much

  1. Paul And Linda, You guys again hit the nail on the head. Heck I would rather be dead then broke with my wife thats for sure:>)

It’s time for us babyboomers first off to not be in denial no more about this major sift that is happening and to understand that, we can have our very own economy helping each of us out and at the same time wipe out all the fears which stands for (False Evidence Appearing Real )

  2. I agree with you Paul and Linda! Not having enough is a HUGE fear! And even more fearful can be thinking you don’t know how to do anything about it. Letting people know they have options is important. And if they are teachable, all is not lost! Thanks for sharing!

  3. Paul & linda:

Good advice…we are & have been moving our Butts to do as you say & ensure our retirement but it is sad to see so many friends/family cower in fear & just lay down & hope for a Govt. dole out,,,, Trying to help them is like trying to get them off the Titanic ,,,They stay in fear hoping Uncle Sam will ‘rescue’ them.

  4. Baby boomers are not the only people asking these questions Paul. As we all recall the past few months and even a couple of years we have felt the notion of “job security”. It doesn’t exist. So anyone reading this would be wise to take inventory of their own plan B and get to planning it.

  5. Great thoughts here. It is interesting how the world has changed in the past few decades. I know that the best asset that the baby boomer generation has is that they know how to work and work hard. It is now time for them to learn how to work smart and be open to new ways of thinking and doing things. Abundance is out there for everyone who would like to receive it. Go and get yours now!

    Make it a great day!

  6. This is a very informative post and I think baby boomers should read to kinda get a glimpse of the future to come and what they CAN do about it.

    Good post guys!

    Shawn.

  7. Great advice and you are so right about not relying on pensions and retirement funds and such. Like you said in today’s economy anything can go wrong in a hurry and it’s time people take care of themselves and each other.

Corporations and governments have only one thing on their minds and it’s their wallets and accounts. They will find anyway to take every penny we have.

Listen to Paul and Linda people, work smart and get in the game. Don’t wait for a miracle. It will not happen.

    Great post Paul
